Bodies of 4 women found in Egg Harbor

The bodies of four women were discovered yesterday afternoon behind a motel in Egg Harbor Township, authorities said.

The bodies were found face down in several inches of water in a ditch, said Janet Niedosik, a spokeswoman for the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. The women were located "some distance apart from one another" around 3 p.m. in the township near Atlantic City.

One body was discovered by two women walking along a dirt access path, and police found the other three bodies, Niedosik said.

None had been identified last night. Autopsies were scheduled for 8 a.m. today, Niedosik said.

WPVI-TV in Philadelphia was reporting on its Web site yesterday the victims were found shot to death.
