BALTIMORE -
Charges against ex-professor Britton lack one
thing: evidence
The excellent article on Brandy Britton and the prostitution
charges she faces in Howard County (“Sex, lies & a
Ph.D.,” Oct. 23) was particularly interesting because there
was no mention of evidence.
Maybe the police found tons of condoms, personal lubricant
and prostitution-focused Web sites, but do they have any
evidence that she sold sex for money? The reporter quotes
Britton as saying, “I don’t trade sex for money.” Can the
Howard County police prove otherwise?
Neighbors peeping through their blinds may have seen luxury
cars at Britton’s house and various men entering and leaving.
But do they know what went on inside the house? They can
speculate all they want, but that’s not evidence.
Assuming there was a search warrant, what evidence did they
offer the judge who signed it other than that Britton apparently
advertised an escort service and men visited her house?
