More than 180 people arrested for soliciting prostitution over the weekend, as part of Metro's "Operation PIMP."

Operation PIMP stands for Prostitutes Incarcerated by the Metropolitan Police department.

Among those arrested was local attorney Mark Peplowski. He is also listed as a Pro Tem judge in Las Vegas' Justice Court.  Along with the Peplowski, 183 people were also arrested for solicitation and related charges.

A task force of more than 90 Metro officers were involved.

They concentrated in four areas: The Tropicana coorridor west of the Strip, downtown Las Vegas including Fremont Street, the Boulder Highway and the Las Vegas Strip.

Metro wants to send a message to the prostitutes, johns and pimps.

A Metro detective said, "This in itself, not only do they loose money but not being on the street, now the pimps have to forfeit money to get them out. So, hopefully this will send a message to them that the department will not tolerate prostitution. And this is not the last time this is going to happen."

So many arrests were made that a processing center was set up at Metro's South Central substation.

Dozens of women were logged in and then transported to jail where they were forced to make bail instead of being released on their own recognizance.

This is not the end of it. Police will continue their efforts vowing to keep pressure on arresting prostitutes.

(Jun. 25) -- It was a bad weekend for Las Vegas prostitutes. A task force of undercover Metro officers were engaged in a massive sweep of streetwalkers Friday and Saturday nights.

Dozens of women were arrested on charges ranging from solicitation to loitering to drugs.

Undercover officers posed as potential customers in areas where street prostitution has exploded in recent years, including Tropicana Avenue, Fremont Street and Boulder Highway.

A special processing center was set up at the South Central Command post where crowds of alleged hookers were logged into the system and then taken by bus and van to jail.
