ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Prostitution is legal in Elko County, but free-lancing is not.

Acting on a tip from another prostitute, an Elko police detective arrested Tham Nguyen, 44, at the "No. 1 Geisha" brothel.

She's the madam and bartender, but is not licensed to engage in any sex acts. The undercover officer said she made him an offer.

Investigators said three other women at the business also did not have the required health cards.

Licensed prostitutes are tested regularly for sexually transmitted diseases. Police Chief Mike Smith said it appears Nguyen - and the other workers - had not been checked for several weeks.

Nguyen was arrested for soliciting prostitution without a license. Her bail was set at $632.
