ARCATA -- It has been called disturbing and hilarious and can turn audiences from uproarious laughter to silent rapt attention.

It is the Sex Workers' Art Show, returning to Humboldt State University's Van Duzer Theater for the third year on Jan. 27, at 8 p.m.

Sponsored by the HSU Women's Resource Center, the cabaret-style production brings audiences a blend of spoken word, music, drag, burlesque and multimedia performance art.

The Women's Resource Center announcement says, “Intelligent and hot, disturbing and hilarious, the performances offer a wide range of perspectives on sex work, from celebration of prostitutes' rights and sex-positivity to views from the darker sides of the industry.”

Tickets, free to HSU students and $6 for community members, are available at the U.C. ticket office at HSU, The Metro, The Works and Good Relations.
